3. Genealogies of Rhode Island Families From Rhode Island Perodicals.
Volume 1. Baltimore, Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., 1983. An extensive history of this
individual's sometimes scandalous life is covered in pp 599-607. It appears that there is
considerable doubt whether Herodias and George Gardiner ever actually married despite the
fact that she bore him 6 or 7 children. On page 603, his response to her petition for a
separation states that "he cannot say that ever hee went on purpose before any
magistrate to declare themselves, or to take each other as man and wife, or to have their
aprobation as to the premesis". That she was married to John Hicks, and later to John
Porter is documented.

6. Euvada (Nalder) Gill. Letter from Euvada Gill containing hand written
information filled in on Family Group Records sent to her some time ago. These records
were seeking out identification of individuals listed in The Ancestral File as
"Living" together with their descendants, spouses, dates and places. As a
consciencious genealogist for many years, the letter contained a wealth of detail.

8. Maxine Pilling Rodgers. "Richard Pilling, A Family Heritage"
It should be mentioned that although all references to this volume are listed as
"Questionable", this is because the book is neither a valid primary or secondary
source. Despite this, it should be observed that almost all the contemporary entries in it
come as the result of correspondence with the immediate families of the individuals
listed. The true level of reliability is probably more close to that of "Living
Information". Red Deer, by the author, 1980. p.314.
